Sorry about that, the forum program for this site is a pain sometimes....I don't know why it does weird things like that. It's very convoluted and takes zillions of steps to get anything done, and usually they don't make any sense to me. /endrant

lol....anyway....all is well now, any other problems just let me know. I thought the country singer with the hat was adorable and also I really enjoyed the judges/coaches. Watching AI last night, I was quite bored in contrast. I like how this show will allow those who don't have typical good looks to go through.

I loved, loved, loved this first episode! I hope it continues to be this good. As I said on main yesterday, I got very emotional and found myself tearing up a lot - with almost every contestant. So happy to see these singers getting a chance that most of them never would have.

I was floored with Rebecca Loebe's take on Nirvana's "Come As You Are". My daughter said that she needs to record that and get it on I-tunes, like NOW! I read Slezaks article and he said he was taking a trip to I-tunes for this song? Are these versions available? I will have to check that out.

Patrick Thomas is a total cutie! I'm not a country fan by any stretch of the imagination, but I did like him a lot.

After watching this, having not watched a single full episode of Idol in two Season's (except for when Adam was on) I decided to try last night. Nope, I couldn't do it. I don't know how anyone is watching it this year. Did JLo and S. Tyler really tell Lauren that having her voice crack was a good thing? Really? For the most part I felt like my ears were being raped. I turned the channel before Haley got to sing so she may have been good but I couldn't listen anymore.

I know what you mean. I don't know what it is, something about them standing there alone on stage waiting for a chair to turn around for them. It tugs on the emotions.

The Voice twitted that all audition songs were available on Itunes.

Rachel reminded me of Jordis Unga

Rachel is my fav with Xenia, Vikki and Javier close behind.

Hubby and I both enjoyed the show a lot. Thing is that I have yet to be blown away by the VOICE! I kept waiting to hear vocals that grabbed me and wrung me out (since the show's entire premise is that the VOICE, the VOCAL is the real skill/talent that should elevate someone to stardom. A couple of the voices were pretty good--Javier and I'm going to be interested to hear how the young girl Xenia develops and is mentored since her voice is really interesting---but for the most part, I'm still waiting...

And admittedly, I couldn't help but think during the whole thing, "Imagine those hands slamming on the buttons if Adam had been singing....", so yeah....nobody quite measured up, you know? ;)

Hathor, thanks for linking the opener. I missed the beginning, so I didn't even know about it.

I thought the same thing :) It seemed ridiculous in contrast. James gets a comment from Randy after his performance that he should win the whole thing. And, while I thought it was better than some of his previous performances, it was insane he should be anointed the winner for finally singing a whole song on key.

ABSOLUTELY 4 wants and IMO, 4 standing O's with their mouths resembling their posture!

You are welcome and I tried to find other performances and was not successful.

I must admit I too was bored watching AI. All creativity seems to have been sucked out of it.

In AI9 Crystal and Casey had some creativity but were derailed.

Fun topic what song of Adam's do you think would have had those chairs spinning around the quickest.

My guess Mad World.

Hathor, I've been thinking about your question for about an hour now, this is really hard! So I'm going to have to go with my favorite AI recording and say Feeling Good.

Ohbrother, me too! I've never given him a second look before, but yeah he's hot!

Adam Levine is hot. However---and this is strictly rumor---I seem to remember reading that he is quite the ladies' man in a bad way. That is, he's a 'love 'em and leave 'em/don't call me I'll call you/oh, I never meant for you to stay overnight...etc., kinda guy. Can't remember where I heard this...

There HAS to be SOMEthing wrong with him; otherwise, he'd be too perfect--hot, talented, funny...

Hmm....well, I did find this rather interesting photo when Googling...http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-31749_162-20027857-10391698.html Why oh why do guys think body tattoos are hot?

Well of course any song Adam sings would blow the judges away. In my mind I steered away form any said to be
"broadway" A Change is Gonna Come blew me away. TOMT too.

I liked Adam Levine and I find him hot, funny and charming.

What the hell is it with the name Adam?

I bought Rebecca's version of the Nirvana song on iTunes. It's very good. I think she's one of my faves so far.

I wish Frenchie had picked a better song.

I decided to catch the first episode after seeing everyone here talking about it on main (being on the left coast is helpful sometimes lol)...and wow, really enjoyed it! I loved the interactions of the judges (mentors? coaches?) - with the contestants and with each other. Adam Levine & Blake Shelton had me laughing out loud a couple of times. A total refreshing change from AI - and great to hear actual current and different songs, instead of the same retreads season after season that we get on Idol (makes me kind of side-eye that oft-heard excuse of "clearance" issues over songs, tbh).

I'm interested to see how the rest of the show is designed once the blind audition rounds are over and everyone has their "teams" set.

There will be "advisers" working with the "coaches" during the competitions rounds

sia and xtina will be paired up..(2 of Adams favorite people)

So I was finally able to watch the Voice and it's fantastic. It's already hipper and cooler than Idol, and the contestants are diverse, have great voices and most importantly, edge. All my DD's friends have downloaded Javier's Time after Time. The mentors have great chemistry. There's no s.h.e., which is Idol's biggest sin, imo. It's just a great show. Who knows if it can sustain, but it's got me hooked for now.
